About the Opportunity

SJ Fine Foods Ltd. is looking for a full-time Plant Manager based in Saskatoon, SK.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will play a pivotal role in leading day-to-day plant operations, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring high standards across production, food safety, maintenance, sanitation, and team performance.

In this position, you will be primarily responsible for overseeing plant operations in a fast-paced meat manufacturing environment, supporting major process and automation changes, and building a high-performing team culture that delivers operational excellence.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading daily plant operations to achieve production, yield, efficiency, and service level targets
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives and identifying opportunities to optimize processes, reduce waste, and resolve operational pain points
  • Overseeing production planning and scheduling to align with demand forecasts and inventory requirements
  • Ensuring compliance with food safety, HACCP, sanitation, and occupational health and safety standards
  • Providing leadership to maintenance and reliability activities to maximize equipment uptime and support safe, efficient production
  • Coaching, mentoring, and holding leaders and teams accountable to performance expectations and plant goals
  • Supporting capital projects, automation implementation, equipment upgrades, and new process integration
  • Collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to balance operational priorities, customer needs, and long-term business objectives

About You

To qualify, you will bring 5+ years of leadership experience within food or meat manufacturing operations in a production environment.

The following are required:

  • Ability and willingness to travel occasionally (including international training opportunities)
  • Ability to work on-site in a fast-paced production environment

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Experience in meat processing, ideally with small to medium diameter sausage production or similar products
  • Proven success leading continuous improvement or operational efficiency projects
  • Strong understanding of production planning, KPIs, and labour optimization
  • Experience working with automation, packaging systems, or equipment upgrades
  • Knowledge of food safety standards including HACCP and regulatory compliance
  • Technical understanding of maintenance, reliability, or production equipment
  • Experience managing or influencing cross-functional teams in a manufacturing setting
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or process improvement methodologies
